When I was in leadership, I felt alone, incompetent and overwhelmed!

Perhaps you are there too now!
Hey my dear,

I am Leadership Development Coach Kathy Archer and author of the best-selling book Mastering Confidence: Discover your leadership potential by awakening your inner guidance system.

I was once in your shoes! I felt exhausted, scared, frustrated and was not sure I was measuring up. My confidence wavered. I was stuck in survival mode, constantly about to unravel and barely hanging on.

I simply wanted to feel competent, confident and content as a leader and in my life!

Over time, I discovered how to not only restore my confidence but how to bounce back quickly each time I got knocked off balance. Let's face it, as a leader you regularly get hit with things that make you question your abilities. But when you can get back in the game quicker, you move from surviving to thriving in both your leadership & your life.

Let me tell you what I believe...

There is a succession planning crisis in nonprofits!

🇨🇦 Canada's nonprofits are running out of leaders, yet women are reluctant to step up to the plate. They doubt their abilities or their ability to handle it all.
  • This has resulted in a succession planning crisis in many organizations. That means there is no succession plan in most organizations.

What is happening for you:
  • Are you afraid to move up?
  • Are you afraid no one will step into your role?

Did you know that women lead better than men?

Studies show that women are often more effective leaders than men because we are better at creating engagement. Engagement is the most important factor for empowering individuals, teams and organizations to perform with excellence.
So why are we not leading more authentically, powerfully and quite frankly more often?

Because we lack the competence and confidence to lead and live to our full potential.
I know. I was one of those women.

I was in your shoes and found a different way!

I struggled to raise my kids to hold my marriage together, and finish my degree while running programs and managing staff over a large geographical area.

On any given day, I could hop in my car, travel 300+ km, visit two or more sites, handle countless phone calls, all the while responding to an endless stream of emails.

Then I would rush home to throw french fries and chicken fingers in the oven so that I could get my kids out the door in time for Taekwondo practice 🥺

I was falling apart at the seams 😭 I was also very frustrated. I am an overachiever with high expectations.

I wanted to be not just a good enough leader but an exceptional leader.

When I wasn’t, I beat myself up, assumed I just wasn’t leadership material and prayed no one would figure that out!

I knew what I was experiencing was not what I wanted. I also knew our program had a limited staff development budget.

I was aware that my boss was primarily concerned with organizational growth, not my growth.

It wasn’t that I didn’t get training, but it was piecemeal and left me feeling something was missing.

I took things into my own hands.  I created my own curriculum for personal and leadership development.
  • I read books from authors like Cheryl Richardson and Wayne Dyer, learning to take care of myself and balance life.
  • I took self-tests like Strengthsfinder and VIA Signature Strengths to identify my skills and talents and discern areas for growth.
  • I took courses from the local college, our adult education society and any training I could convince my organization to pay for.
  • With every spare dime, I could find in the staff development budget, I bought books on team building, leadership, management, and even network.

I didn’t always know what I was looking for, but I knew there had to be a different way, and I was determined to find it.

I took responsibility for my personal and professional growth!

By developing my curriculum, I was able to grow myself as a leader and as a person.
