  • It's not fair that you don't have time to take training and maybe even have a boss that doesn't support your development or career goals.

I was in your shoes and found a different way!

I teach, coach and mentor women leading in the nonprofit sector

For the past 12 years, I've helped hundreds of nonprofit woman leaders like you overcome a lack of confidence and enjoy impactful leadership.
But it wasn't always that way.

Hi, I am Leadership Development Coach Kathy Archer,
author of the best-selling book Mastering Confidence: Discover your leadership potential by awakening your inner guidance system.

I was once in your shoes! I felt exhausted, scared, and frustrated and was unsure I was measuring up.
My confidence wavered. I was stuck in survival mode, constantly about to unravel and barely hanging on.

I simply wanted to feel competent, confident and content as a leader and in my life!

I struggled to raise my kids, hold my marriage together, and finish my degree while running programs and managing staff over a large geographical area.

On any given day, I could hop in my car, travel 300+ km, visit two or more sites, and handle countless phone calls while responding to endless emails.

Then I would rush home to throw french fries and chicken fingers in the oven so that I could get my kids out the door in time for Taekwondo practice.

I was frustrated and falling apart at the seams. I am an overachiever with high expectations, and I felt like a failure.

I wanted to be not just a good enough leader but an exceptional leader.

When I wasn't, I beat myself up, assumed I just wasn't leadership material and prayed no one would figure that out!

I knew what I was experiencing was not what I wanted. However, I also knew our program had a limited staff development budget.

I was aware that my boss was primarily concerned with organizational growth, not my growth.

It wasn't that I didn't get training, but it was piecemeal and left me feeling something was missing.

I took things into my own hands. I created a curriculum for my personal and leadership development.

  • I read books from authors like Cheryl Richardson and Wayne Dyer, learning to care for myself and balance life.
  • I took self-tests like Strengthsfinder and VIA Signature Strengths to identify my skills and talents and discern areas for growth.
  • I took courses from the local college, our adult education society and any training I could convince my organization to pay for.
  • I bought books on team building, leadership, management, and networking with every spare dime I could find in the staff development budget.
I didn't always know what I was looking for, but I knew there had to be a different way, and I was determined to find it.

I took ownership of my personal and professional growth!
